Gorey 3 Day - Postponed
13/03/2020
Press Release
Gorey 3 Day International Bike Race
Due to the current uncertainty regarding the impact of COVID-19, the Gorey 3 Day race, scheduled to take place over the Easter weekend (11th-13th April), will be postponed to a date later in 2020.
Race Director Derek Webb said: “We sincerely regret having to make the decision to postpone the Gorey 3 Day. A lot of work has gone in to ensuring our new look edition of this great race would be successful, so it was not an easy decision to make, and is one that is not taken lightly. But naturally the health and wellbeing of riders, team personnel, race volunteers, officials and spectators are paramount. “
“In addition, there is simply too much ongoing uncertainty around the impact of the virus and the duration of Government restrictions, to make continuing with plans for the Easter weekend viable. We’ve decided to make the call as early as possible. This will hopefully allow riders time to minimise any losses due to pre-booked accomodation and travel costs, especially for those teams planning to travel into the country.”
Arrangements have been made with Cycling Ireland to ensure all entered riders will receive a full refund.
Organisers will consult with the Cycling Ireland Road Commission, Wexford County Council and the Garda Siochana to arrange a suitable new date for the rescheduled race.
Webb continued: “I would like to thank everyone involved for your patience and understanding of this difficult decision. We will keep you posted in due course on any new date for the Gorey 3 Day later in 2020.”
Kind Regards
Derek Webb
