Funding available to support cycling activity

Cycling Ireland are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing funding to further support cycling activity and projects in 2017.

Funding has been granted to support activity in the following areas:

1. Dormant Accounts funding from Sport Ireland to support cycling activity for people in socially, economically and educationally disadvantaged areas. (Open to both male and female participants of all ages).

2. HSE funding to support cycling activity for people classed as non-active i.e. not currently involved in any form of physical activity. (Open to male and female participants aged 16 and over).

We are looking for coaches, leaders, clubs and other organisations who currently operate in these areas or are interested in doing so and would like to apply for funding to help run introductory and skills based cycling courses. Leaders should be suitably trained in delivering cycling programmes and be able to source and organise their own participant groups.

As well as leader payments, course material and resources will also be provided for every participant.

Courses should range from 4 to 6 weeks and will follow Cycling Ireland’s skills based programmes Bike for Life, Sprocket Rocket and Gearing Up.

Dormant Accounts activity should be completed by the end of 2017. HSE activity should be completed or at least scheduled by the end of June 2017. Course funding is limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Please note that as per Sport Ireland and HSE requirements funding is only available for projects in the Republic of Ireland.
