Bike for Life and the Great Dublin Bike Ride – Support Funding Available

Do you have a club or group interested in running a Bike for Life / Sofa to Saddle programme and finishing it off with the 65km route of this year’s Great Dublin Bike Ride?

What are we looking for?

Clubs, coaches or other groups interested in running a programme, based on Cycling Irelands Bike for Life, that will help novice cyclists develop the skills, fitness and confidence to complete the 65km route of the Great Dublin Bike Ride on the 23rd September 2018.

What are we offering?

  • Reduced entry into the GDBR for participants at €25

  • Payment of €230 to each club or coach for every 8 participants brought through the programme

  • Free 65km route entry for the Great Dublin Bike Ride for coaches (one free coach per 8 participants)

  • Personal accident and third party insurance for all coaches and participants for the duration of the programme

Any restrictions?

  • As the aim of this programme is to encourage new people into cycling, participants cannot be existing members of Cycling Ireland
  • Due to stipulations of the funding bodies for this project – this is open to participants from the Republic of Ireland only
  • Coaches / clubs must recruit their own participants and will be responsible for them during the programme
  • Funding and places in the programme are limited and offered on a first come first served basis

We have a number of groups based in Dublin 2 and 4 who are looking for help with their preparation for the GDBR. These groups will be primarily managed by Sports Officers from Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing Partnership however experienced coaches / cyclists are being sought to offer guidance and support to these officers. Payment of €230 and free entry to the 65km GDBR available.
