Cycle Right Adult Training Opportunities

Introduction of Adult Cycle Training – Spring 2018



The Road Safety Authority is now rolling out Adult Cycle Training, with the support of Cycling Ireland as part of the ongoing programme of CYCLE RIGHT, the National Cycling Training Standard.


The process will begin, in the immediate term, with pilot training and interested potential participant groups/individuals are being sought, who are currently engaged in leisure cycling, are commuting by bike and/or are involved in cycling clubs. These pilot courses will be fully funded.


Format of training session


The pilot will cover an expected 200 participants in training groups of 6-8 participants, ideally of a similar skill level.

There will be three hours of training which will be in one of the following course formats -


3 x one-hour session 

1 x three-hour session,

2 x 90mins 


- which will in turn depend on the starting skill level of the group, including fitness and environment
.


The initial phase of this rollout will happen over February/March 2018.



Post-training feedback will be sought from both trainers and participants with a view to informing the future training model
.
