COVID19 UPDATE - NORTHERN IRELAND – 24/03/2021

 

Covid-19 regulations within Northern Ireland are due to be relaxed by the Northern Ireland Executive from April 2021. The implications for cycling clubs, members and activities are set out below.

 

 

Training (Clubs, Groups, and Individuals)

Outdoors: You can leave your home to exercise in a public outdoor place:

  • by yourself
  • with the people you live with
  • with your bubble
  • or, when on your own, with one person from another household

You should not travel more than 10 miles from your home to exercise. If, when you arrive at your proposed destination, there are crowds which will make social distancing difficult you should find an alternative place to exercise.


 Indoors: Indoor training is not permitted. (There is an exemption for professional and elite sports).


1st April 2021

From 1st April, up to 10 people (including children of all ages) from a maximum of two households can take part in structured outdoor sports activities.

 

Outdoor sports facilities can re-open. However, club houses and indoor sports facilities (changing rooms, showers, kitchens, meeting rooms), apart from essential toilet facilities must stay closed.

The return to sport protocols put in place by Cycling Ireland should be strictly adhered to including hygiene measures, social distancing and other mitigations.

 

12th April 2021

 

From 12 April, up to 15 people (including coaches) can take part in structured outdoor sports training, through clubs affiliated to recognised sports governing bodies.

 


 Events (Races & Sportives)

 

Cycling events, races or sportives are not currently permitted under the regulations set out by the Northern Ireland Executive. Event organisers wishing to host events in 2021 should submit details onto the Cycling Ireland Permit System as early as possible. This will facilitate a smooth return to activity once restrictions are eased by the Northern Ireland Executive. 


 

Travel

 

You should avoid all unnecessary travel.

 

You should not travel more than 10 miles from your home in order to take exercise.

 

Everyone is asked to be mindful of the risks of spreading the virus by travel and should use their judgement when deciding whether to undertake a journey based on individual circumstances.


 These restrictions will be kept under review by the NI Executive and we will endeavour to issue guidance on what activity can take place as soon as possible.
