Ulster Events for National Bike Week

Emyvale CC & Ards CC are active in promoting National Bike Week with a time trial and crit on offer.

 


Emyvale 10 TT 15/06/10
As part of their events scheduled for National Bike Week, Emyvale Cycling Club are promoting a 10 miles time trial on Tuesday 15th June. The sign-on is from 7pm in the National School car park in Tydavnet on the R186 Monaghan- Clogher road with first rider off at 7.30pm. Further parking is available in the village Church grounds and all participants are being asked not to park on the roadside.

The course record is 20.39 which was recorded by Paul Brady 3 days before he stormed to All Ireland glory in the Men’s Under 23 Time Trial in 2007. It could prove to be a good indicator therefore for any tester looking to gauge their form ahead of the National Time Trial Championship in Sligo next week. The event is being supported by Monaghan Sports Partnership who will be providing post race refreshments. Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each category as well as spot prizes. The Emyvale club look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far on Tuesday evening.


Ards Crit 16/06/10
Ards Cycling Club's annual town centre races takes place on Wednesday 16th June 2010. Sign on is in Conway Square from 6pm. Cars are requested not to park in front of the Town Hall (spaces to be left for officials for sign on ambulance etc. There are carparks situated close to the course. If your car is parked within the closed circuit you will not be able to leave the town centre until the roads reopen to traffic at 9pm.

The first race which is the novice event starts at 7pm sharp. Children taking part in this event must wear a helmet and have a road worthy bike. The parent or guardian will have to sign a consent form. Parents will not be permitted to accompany children in the race. Club cyclists will accompany the children.

Open Youth racing is next followed by an A4 race and then the main A* A1,2 & 3 race. All roads in the town centre are closed to traffic.

The event is supported by Ards Borough Council and is part of National Bike Week.
