UK School Games Details

CU Talent ID Officer, Anthony Mitchell has released details of Ulster team plans for the 2012 UK School Games.
 
Olympic year will see no fewer than three UK Regional Championships take place for Youth riders in 2012, the highlight of which will be the UK school Games which take place in early May. The event will cater for Road and Track disciplines, with riders getting the unique opportunity to compete at the London Olympic Velodrome.Cycling Ulster have taken part in the UK School Games for the past three years and hope to select a squad to represent Ulster agin in 2012.

The 2-day road programme will include a 200m road sprint, Road Race, Criterium and Team Time Trial with a full 1-day Track Programme on Wed 9th May. The Games will run from 7th - 9th May, and it is envisaged that the Cycling Ulster squad will travel on Saturday 5th May and return on Fri 11th May.

Expressions of interest and availability are sought from male and female riders born in 1996 or later, and details should be sent to Talent Development Officer, Anthony Mitchell at anthonymitchell@cyclingulster.com

Other diary dates for UK championships are, the UK Inter-Regional MTB Campionships, 31 Aug - 2nd September, and the UK Inter-Regional Track Championships, 14th-16th September.

Selection criteria for squad selection will be published in early January but riders are advised that attendance at track training is a must as the squad chosen must be able to compete in both the road and track events.
