Ryan, who won a silver medal as a Pilot at the World Para-cycling Track Championships last season was the only rider to break the hour for the 25 miles on the Woodgreen course tonight, recording a time of 59.03. A reasonable breeze on the course led to most riders being outside their best times.
18 year old Rachael Withers (westtyronevelo.com-FCC) was second on the night, claiming top points in the UWA TT League as first Ulster rider. As an indication to the wind conditions on the night, Withers was two minutes off her National Junior Women's Record time from last August, stopping the clock on 1.03.06, four minutes in arrears of Ryan. Kay Hack (Bann Wheelers) finished her preparations for the upcoming Rás Dhun na nGall where she will ride as part of the Cycling Ulster - David McCall Foundation team by doing a time of 1.03.43, good enough for third place overall.
The next round of the league is on Wednesday 23rd June.
