National Classic League begins on Sunday

14/03/2010
Four Masters Cycling Club promote the first round of the 2010 National Classic League in Donegal.

The John Deere Classic has formed part of the Ulster Slane Cycles Classic League in recent years but has now moved up to National Classic League status. The event will get underway from Termon, 9 miles north of Letterkenny at 12 noon on Sunday 21st March. The course covers a total distance of 120km on a large loop.

Having won the Cycleways Cup and John Moore Memorial on consecutive weekends, defending champion, Adam Armstrong (Eurocycles) will be out for his hat-trick of wins this season on Sunday. As is often the case with racing in Donegal, the event includes several hills, with two long climbs ensuring the race is worthy for opening the country's premier road race series.

The race is open to A+, A1, and A2 riders and with the Easter stage races on the horizon, the top riders from across Ireland are expected to be in attendance thus ensuring an exciting battle for the first Irish Classic League Leader's Jersey of 2010.
