McCann Fastest in Ulster 25

15/09/2011
Testers braved tough weather conditions for Sunday's Ulster 25 miles time trial championship on the Woodgreen circuit.

2010 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist David McCann (Giant) was the fastest on the day with a time of 53 minutes 8 seconds, 6 minutes slower than his Irish record provides an indication of the conditions being faced by the riders. John Madden (Curran CC) fresh from a medal winning performance in Saturday's National veteran's championship took second spot ahead of Lurgan's John Heverin (Clann Éireann). Madden also lifted the veteran's title with Mark Greer (Maryland) in silver and East Antrim's Jim McConnell taking the final spot on the podium.

The women's title was won by Kay Hack (Bann Wheelers) from Mary Hunter (Dromara CC) who also took a silver in the Ulster 10 just two week's ago. Team Madigan's Judith Lowry was third.
