The Kerry man has been on form since the season began at the end of February when he won the Lacey Cup in Tralee, a race honouring his grandfather Tim.
Today's race saw the riders tackle several climbs on a very hilly course in Donegal, the race started in Termon, 9 miles north of Letterkenny. Lacey broke clear early on in the race and was in a break of six riders as the race tackled Muckish climb and despite being outnumbered in the original break that saw three members of the Cycling Ulster selection present, namely Simon Williams, Conor McAllister and Leo McAllister, he ended the day as the first leader of the 2010 National Classic League.
The race was dominated by this early break and as the race entered the closing stages it was Lacey who won the sprint from Williams, with another of the early breakaway riders, Thomas Martin (Eurocycles) taking third.
