Kinning wins Slane Cycles League Rd 3 & Bremner on top for first time in 2010

Round-up of the weekend racing action including Glenn Kinning's (East Antrim - Audi) win in the Red Hand Trophy and Philip Bremner's (Ballymena RC) first victory of 2010 in the Tour of the Mournes. In England meanwhile, Philip Lavery (Look Academy) took second in the Lincoln GP.
 

Blair International Red Hand Tophy/Slane Cycles Ulster Classic League Round 3 - 08/05/10
The third round of the Slane Cycles Ulster Classic League was won by Glenn Kinning on Saturday. The race that was held in glorious sunshine began with an early break by a native of the promoting club, Ryan Connor who now rides for Usher IRC. The Ahoghill cyclist was later joined in the break by 2009 Ulster Classic League winner, Gary Cranston (East Antrim - Audi) and several others. In the final kick to the line, Kinning took the win ahead of his club mate Cranston, while Donegal's Paul Vaughan (SportActive) claimed third.

Connor's fourth place on the day was enough to make him joint leader in the Ulster Classic League with Cranston. Stephen Gallagher (Sigma Sport - Specialized) is in third place on the table, 10 points behind.

Tour of the Mournes - 09/05/10
Promising Ballymena Road Club member, 19 year old Philip Bremner won the hilly Tour of the Mournes promoted by Newry Wheelers on Sunday. Jonny Cole (Team Madigan) took second which was enough to see him upgraded to the A1 ranks.

Lavery 2nd in Lincoln GP
Philip Lavery took another fantastic result on Sunday while riding as part of the Irish National Team alongside fellow Ulster riders, Mark McKinley (Newry Wheelers) and Conor McAllister (Ballymena RC). Lavery took second behind the formidable Chris Newton (Rapha Condor), a World and Olympic Track medalist, and two time winner of the Rás. To read a report on the race click here.
