Bridges of Hope Charity Cycle Saturday 20th August
Ballymoney CC will promote their Bridges of Hope Charity Cycle this Saturday 20th August. This year there will be 4 distances to ride: A kids 4 mile cycle, a family 9 mile cycle, a 24 mile cycle to the coast at Bushmills and back and a new distance of 56 miles tracing the length of the River Bush from its source up Orra mountain to its mouth at Bushmills / Portballintrae.
The route will cross as many bridges over the Bush as possible and will also travel down through the legendary 'Dark Hedges'.
The first event starts at 11AM from Stranocum, just 5 miles outside Ballymoney from the town’s bypass.
There is no set entry fee for any event...£10 would be nice, but it is really a case of donating what you can afford. Last year the club presented a cheque to the Community Rescue Service for £1500 which was raised at the event. The club look forward to welcoming all on Saturday.
Bann Valley Charity Tour- Sunday 21st August
The annual Marie Curie charity run this year is on Sunday 21st August. Some changes have been made and this year the event will follow a new route on the outward journey. We have decided to slightly extend the run taking in the towns of Rasharkin, Ballymoney and Bushmills on route to the coast road from where the cyclists will travel along the scenic route to Portrush at which point we will pick up the previously used course between the two 'ports'. This takes the cyclists on the return leg through Portstewart to Coleraine Kilrea and back to some refreshments in Portglenone Community Centre. The distance for the full circuit is approximately 100k.
The event will commence with sign on from 9.30am at the Community Centre, departure is scheduled for 10am.
