Cycling Ireland is seeking applications from youth cyclists who feel that they are of the required standard to be part of our Talent Team 2020.
As part of a long range developmental programme, the CI Talent Team 2020 has two immediate aims for 2011/2012:
- To smooth the transition of our brightest prospects born in 1995 from the Youth to Junior ranks where they will then hopefully join the Junior Development Programme.
- To identify Ireland’s most talented cyclists born in the years 1996 to 1999 and offer them specialist support to achieve their potential along a high performance development pathway.
An initial team of 16 cyclists will be selected from those who apply by post on or before 5pm on Friday 14th of October 2011. Eight cyclists born in 1995 will be selected and eight others born in the years 1996 to 1999.
The riders will be informed by email before Friday 21st of October. The first of 3 one day team sessions will take place on Saturday 29th of October between 11am and 4pm at a venue to be decided.
Further one day team sessions will take place in December and February.

Cycling Ireland reserves the right to remove any team member if they are not performing to the standards set for them or for any breaches of Cycling Ireland’s Code of Conduct.
While membership of the Cycling Ireland Talent Team 2020 is not a requirement for selection for National Youth Teams, it is hoped that the CI Talent Team will compete internationally as a squad in 2012 (subject to budgetary conditions).
The selection will be based on results in races in 2011.
A reserve panel will be drawn up which may be used to supplement the Talent Team when riders move up to the Junior Development Programme.
