The event is the ‘Jarlath McInerney Memorial Criterium and Family Cycling Day’ and will raise funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital. It is intended to commemorate the memory of Jarlath McInerney, a well known Galway solicitor, who died December 2009 and who during his lifetime was instrumental in raising funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital through sponsored walking and cycling events. The proposed date for the event is Saturday the 26th June 2010 from approximately 5.00pm until 10.00pm. The event will centre at the area beside the Claddagh Hall where the races will start and where food stalls, music and other entertainment will take place.
The objective of the event is to combine Criterium racing that attracts amateur and semi professional cyclists along with fun races and entertainment for the family that promotes cycling for all and at all levels in Galway and becomes a recognised annual event in the cycling calendar that will attract enthusiasts from all over Ireland and abroad.
